| · SAC TRUCKS WORKSHOP |
The SAC Truck Workshop is completely focused on meeting our individual client’s needs within a specifically and uniquely South African operating environment. |
We employ top notch staff and continually upgrade our facility. |
Our workshop is able to get work in and out fast because we have such a big range of parts and or refurbished units in stock. |
It is this advantage that we will always benefit from and continue to enhance. |
The desperate need for specialists in the fast growing diesel powered light commercial and leisure industry is well documented and suitably addressed now days via our diesel outlets. |
The need in the trucking fraternity was even more desperate, but there was absolutely no one in the country who had an infrastructure to accommodate these giants, or to diagnose and properly optimise them. |
All the knowledge gained over the years has been successfully implicated within SAC Trucks. |
Our workshop is efficient and we are very focused on customer care. Very often we will simply be on the loosing side but our customers need to be happy. |
It is all about specializing. We need to know all the ups and downs or trick and traps on Volvo and Scania trucks alike. |
Simulating real road conditions in our dyna room enables us to test vehicle performance and properly diagnose an engine related problem. |
Once a truck has had an engine rebuild or similar, it is subject to a thorough test on the rolling road dyna where qualified staff is able to carefully monitor temperatures, pressures etc. to ensure that the engine or refurbished unit operates 100% before the truck hits the road. |

· COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CHECKS |
The injection pumps and nozzle technology on all diesel powered vehicles are virtually the same, even now with the latest electronically controlled pumps we are able to use similar optimisation equipment and product on most popular trucks to what we have used on LCV's and LDV's over the last few years. |
Like on all the diesel bakkies and cars we have worked on in the past, measurement is an integral part of our optimisation programs and we will continue to formalise new procedures to suit specific needs. |
This is where we determine with the aid of our chassis dynamometer and state of the art equipment whether a truck's engine needs any immediate repairs in order to prevent further unwanted major breakdowns. |
Preventative maintenance has always been one of our strong points, as we believe prevention is better than cure, especially when it comes to major engine repairs. |
A turbocharged diesel engine’s problems usually snowballs when suffering from what normally seems like a minor mechanical failure. These seemingly minor problems result in excessive exhaust gas temperatures when they begin, and as time goes on, enough excessive temperatures in the combustion chamber and exhaust manifold destructs the entire engine. |
If a minor mechanical failure is detected in time, what could have cost a mere R20,000 to repair, easily becomes R100,000 plus as little as say 3,000 kms further. |
When a truck undergoes a health check, there is a number of measurements that take place, all of course while the truck is stationary on the chassis dynamometer under full or partial load. |
After all the measurements on the dyna, the truck is removed and then a blow by test is done to determine the condition of the piston bores and / or valve seating ability. The sump of the engine is removed and the condition of the bearings is also inspected visually as well as with measuring equipment. |
Only after such a health check and a thorough optimization, can one be rest assured that engine failure will not be as a result of poor preventative maintenance. |
